|
Since its resumption in 1985,
the Department has set up four academic specialties for bachelor’s-degree
students: 1)Information Management & Information Systems, 2)Library
Science, 3)Archives, 4)Editing & Publishing; three specialties for
master’s-degree students: 1)Library Science, 2)Information Science, 3)Archives;
still, two specialties for doctoral-degree students: 1)Information Science,
2)Library Science. A multi-disciplined, three-specialty-crossing structure has
been formulated.
There are three
university-governed research institutes attached to the department:
1)Information Industry Institute, 2)Information Technology Developing
Institute, 3) Publishing Research Institute. Besides, there are two
university-governed centers: 1)Center for Chinese Social Sciences Research
Assessment, 2)Information Retrieval Lab, and two state-governed research bases:
1)Chinese Assessment & Creation Center for Humanities & Social
Sciences, 2)National Center for Information Resource Management, Nanjing
Branch.
We have a faculty of 33, among whom
13 are professors (6 are doctoral advisors), 12 are associate professors, 4
lecturers and 4 lab researchers, while 90% have a doctoral or master’s
degree.
In the past 20 years, we have
more then 5000 students of all levels graduated who are now scattered all over
the country and in all fields. Currently we have 560 undergraduates, 200
